Per Diem Substance Abuse Counselor

We are seeking a Per Diem/ Part Time Chemical Dependency Counselor

At Hemet Valley Recovery Center & Sage Retreat we provide the full continuum of care, including acute medical detox, on-site residential services, outpatient services, as well as four affiliated recovery residences. As a 12-step based, holistically focused treatment center, we offer specialty programs for older adults, young adults, first responders, and patients suffering from chronic pain. On-site training is provided for all levels of care. We also offer services for family members in our bi-weekly family program.

Qualifications

  • CADC I, II, or LAADC preferred.
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other behavioral health related field also desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience in an adult chemical dependency setting.
  • Minimum 2 years of continuous sobriety (if in recovery).

Job Description:

From the moment the patient enters our doors, counselors are a part of a highly skilled team designed to provide safety, security, support, and education. We also help our patients develop healthy coping skills, and provide appropriate treatment/after care planning for the most effective chance for success against the disease of addiction.

To accomplish this, the counselor is expected to be able to:

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans to meet the specific needs of each patient and family.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to assist the patient’s needs.
  • Group counseling to include facilitating both psychoeducational and therapeutic process groups.
  • Effective therapeutic interventions to promote healthy behavior and recovery.
  • Complete timely and thorough EMR documentation on therapeutic interventions and patient care.
  • Communicate with referral sources, referents, and family members to provide the best patient care and successful discharge plan.
  • Perform de-escalation techniques, crisis Intervention, and effective redirection from unsafe early discharging.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary team for best care practices.

 

Job Type: Part time and Per Diem

Pay range: Salary commensurate with experience

Substance Abuse RN - Monday through Friday 11p- 7a

$4,000 Sign-on Bonus!

Hemet Valley Recovery Center includes an 18 bed acute care in-patient unit providing Medical Detoxification Services under the care of RNs, LVNs, and CNAs 24 hours a day.  Patients are also provided with a daily face to face evaluation by our Board Certified Addictionist for ongoing medical detoxification evaluation and medication adjustment, as well as diagnosis and treatment for related medical problems. We provide a full continuum of care following a successful detoxification process, including on-site residential services, outpatient services, as well as four affiliated recovery residences.   • California RN License.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support.

Job Description:

From the moment the patient enters our unit, nursing staff provides compassion, patient safety, education, and highly skilled care, as well as an ongoing assessment of patient condition HVRC nurses are characterized by their dedication and commitment to a safe detoxification and recovery process, as well as to teamwork, loyalty and the 12 step philosophy.

The HVRC RN is responsible for:

  • Interviewing patients and relatives to gather basic personal, social, and medical data relevant to assessing chemical dependency/chronic pain and related disorders.
  • Assisting patients in understanding and accepting the need for treatment.
  • Ability to identify signs and symptoms of alcohol, CNS stimulant, opiate, sedative hypnotic, and benzodiazepine withdrawal.
  • Consulting with physicians, counselors, and other team members in designing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
  • Assisting patients in understanding the nature of drug and /or alcohol withdrawal; what to expect, and what symptoms to report.
  • Administering medications to patients per MD order and observes for effectiveness and possible side effects.
  • Keeping medications and medical equipment secured; maintains/controls narcotics.
  • Completing nursing assessments which include obtaining medical and substance use histories, evaluating nursing priorities and completing body system assessments.
  • Completes timely and thorough EMR documentation.
  • Understands the disease of addiction and holistic recovery process.

Job Type: Full-time

Per Diem Chemical Dependency Counselor

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a chemical dependency clinical setting, preferably working with adults.
  • Certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor (CADAC), MFT or LCSW, or significant progress toward certification is required.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Able to initiate and conduct individual, group and family groups/counseling sessions.
  • Must demonstrate ability to direct all aspects of case management, including documentation, treatment planning and discharge planning.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate compassion and understanding, and be able to set appropriate boundaries.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of the chemical dependency disease process.

Skills and Requirements

  • Must have current RN license.
  • Must have current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of the disease of chemical dependency and drug/alcohol withdrawal is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate ability to direct all aspects of patient care, including admissions, discharges, treatment planning and documentation.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively guide and supervise LVNs and CNAs.
  • Must demonstrate compassion and understanding, but be able to set appropriate limits.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of the chemical dependency disease process.

Skills and Requirements

  • Must have current CNA license
  • Some light driving duties required, a good DMV record is a must.
  • Flexibility is extremely important for the right candidate.
  • Unit secretary experience a plus.
  • Must have compassion and exceptional assessment skills.
