1) What should I bring?
We would like you to be comfortable during your stay at the Hemet Valley Recovery Center. If you will be staying with us for our full program, some items to consider while packing include:
Comfortable clothing, 3-5 changes depending on length of stay.
Workout clothing and tennis shoes
Personal hygiene items (tooth brush, brush, deodorant, mouthwash, etc)
Pair of comfortable shoes
Pajamas, robe, slippers and sleepwear
Favorite pillow or blanket (optional)
Calling card/change for pay phone (optional)
Eye glasses / Hearing aid
Your routine medications (non narcotic)
A.A./ N.A. basic text (optional)

2) What should I not bring?
Cell phones (access is restricted while in inpatient care)
Cameras
Walkman, CD players, or I-pod
Lap top computer
Work materials
Any illicit drugs
Caffeine drinks
Food
Unwrapped candy
Revealing clothing or clothing that is imprinted with profanity, alcohol, or drug references.
3) What is the first day like?
The first day on the unit will provide us with the opportunity to get to know you better. We will be completing some assessments and evaluations that will enable us to provide you with the best care possible. We will become familiar with any medical problems or special needs that you have and will provide you with the care that you need to be safe and comfortable. While in phase one (Medical Detoxification) of our program, groups and meetings are not mandatory but are encouraged. You will see one of our Medical Doctors /Addictionists every day as we focus on your health status and well being which forms the foundation for your recovery.
4) What happens after medical detoxification is completed?
After detox is completed, the rehabilitation phase (phase two and three) of treatment begins. Being a primary treatment facility, we provide short term (30 to 45 days) intensive treatment in the context of an interdisciplinary treatment team model. We offer both inpatient and outpatient programs however our chronic pain and older adult specialty programs require a 30 day inpatient commitment.
5) What does the unit look like?
The Hemet Valley Recovery Center is located in a modern single story building. The unit was updated and remodeled in 2004 for your comfort and to better serve our client population. The rooms are semi private and are equipped with Hill Rom® hospital beds. The rooms have nurse call systems and privacy curtains for your comfort. There is easy access to an outdoor park like courtyard with sitting areas for your comfort. The staff offices are on site so that your clinical team is always easy to access and the dining room and group meeting rooms are also within the unit environment.
6) How do I wash my clothes?
For your convenience, a laundry service will pick up and wash your clothes several times per week. It will be necessary for your name to be placed on the clothing label, so keep this in mind when packing your clothing articles.
7) Do I need to bring money?
Everything is provided for you at the center so money is not necessary. However, for your convenience, a massage therapist does schedule appointments on the unit. This service is not a component of our program and is paid for separately by our clients.
8) What are the visiting hours?
Visiting hours are daily from 5-6 PM. Many groups during the day are open to patients as well as family members and during family week, family members will spends much of their time on the unit. Phones are not provided in the patient rooms, however, pay phones and a phone that is free of charge is available for local calls.
9) What is a case manager?
During your stay, you will be assigned to a primary counselor (case manager). You and your case manager will develop your treatment plan together, and your case manager will function as your guide in the recovery process at the Recovery Center. You will be working with several specialists as well who are part of your treatment team. |
